Ugra Tennis Center welcomes the best young chess players of the world

Ugra Tennis Center is going to host the games of the FIDE World Youth U14, U16, U18 Championships that will take place in Khanty-Mansiysk from September’20 until October’04 2016. Previously it was planned that the venue of the Championships will be Ugra Chess Academy, however, due to a big number of participants of the tournament it was decided to conduct the event in Ugra Tennis Center.

The building is managed by autonomous institution “UgraMegaSport” and has proved to be multifunctional many times. The main hall of the Center has a big central court, which can easily be transformed into sport grounds for other disciplines or a place for hosting concerts and cultural events. The area of the main hall with the central court is 1500 square meters. It also contains seats for 3500 visitors.

In addition to the main court the Ugra Tennis Center has 6 courts for training (3700 square meters), a gym, a fitness center and a cafe.

For the period of the World Youth Championships a competition office and a press-center for national and international journalists that will be giving coverage of the  Championships will be organized.

It is not for the first time Ugra Tennis Center will be hosting a major chess event. In 2010 it was a venue of ХХХIХ Chess Olympiad.

It is to be reminded that at the moment 435 players and 234 accompanying persons from 64 countries have submitted online registration for the FIDE World Youth U14, U16, U18 Championships 2016.
