A meeting of the Executive Directorate for conducting and organizing the FIDE World Youth U14, U16, U18 Championships was held in Khanty-Mansiysk. Competitions will be held in the capital of the region from September’20 till October’4. The Executive Director Valery Radchenko was the chairman of the meeting.

Currently applications for participation in the tournament were received from 556 chess players representing 55 countries. The games will be played in the building of Ugra Tennis Center, which has proved its high functionality many times.
During the meeting issues related to transportation, meals, work of volunteers and accommodation of participants in the hotels of the city were discussed. The directorate has also talked about the organization of the press-center and medical support, media coverage, producing advertising materials and souvenirs as well as cultural and entertainment program of the Championships. Particular attention during the planning of competition was paid to the safety of participants and spectators.

One of the most important issues discussed at the meeting of the Executive Directorate was finding ways to optimize costs of holding the tournament.
It is to be reminded that it is not the first time Ugra was honored to host major international chess competitions. In 2010 the General Assembly was held here in the framework of the 39th chess Olympiad and 81st FIDE Congress, the next year Khanty-Mansiysk has held the World Chess Cup; in 2012 the capital of the region hosted the Women’s World Chess Championships. Besides, in 2014 the Candidates Tournament and the stage of the Women’s FIDE Grand-Prix took place in Khanty-Mansiysk. The Ugra capital has held the final stage of the FIDE Grand-Prix and World Chess Championships among Juniors up to 20 years in 2015.
